Deck & Patio Furniture

With the addition of our deck and the warm weather that we are now getting we decided it was time to actually make some use of the deck. This of course means it's time to get some deck furniture. My sister gave us an awesome Christmas gift (a giftcard) that enabled us to buy a great set of tables and chairs. My parents gave us a fire pit for our patio, which is still in planning mode. You can see our new setup here. Thanks Steph!

NEW SITE!

Hey everybody! We know it's been a while since we've had our site up. We've heard your cries and pleas to get things back in order and keep you updated on our lives. I've been working on a new setup that will hopefully make posting updates and other things easier. The new site will allow you to leave comments for us, so leave us some feedback and let us know how you're doing. If you have a website or blog or whatever, let us know and I'll add a link so that we can all keep updated. Stay tuned for more!

Deck Stairs Started

Now that it's finally warm again, I decided it would be a good idea for us to put some stairs on deck. Not that I didn't enjoy using the wobbling concrete blocks, but this would bring the deck up to code and that's a good thing. So, after doing a lot or research both online and in books I came up with about 3 different ways to build the stairs. Lisa and I headed to our favorite Home Depot to buy the wood that would get us started and while there I finally choose my method to build the steps. We bought the wood and I started working on them over the weekend. Here's what I was able to get done so far.

Cedar Rocking Bench

Lisa came across some plans to build a cedar rocking bench and thought that it would be fun to build it. I agreed, so we bought the plans and I headed out to buy the wood with Nate since he wanted to build some adirondack chairs. I was floored by the cost of the cedar wood, but after getting everything cut and put together I'm happy with the overall project. There are a few minor things left to do, but it's mostly done, take a look for yourself.
